FAMILIES FIRST

The experience of Debra House in transitional housing and case management have been combined with the medical and chemical dependency expertise of UPMC Braddock, and the job readiness and career counseling expertise of Goodwill Industries, Inc. to create one of our newest programs, Families First.

Families First is a $1.5 million transitional housing program for homeless, dually addicted women and their children under 10 years of age.  Since August 1998, when the program opened, seven adults and 11 children have been helped through this successful collaboration.  Families First has had great success in helping people regain control of their lives through rehabilitation and life skills training: one hundred percent of all Families First graduates have secured employment and are self-sufficient.
